When God Says Go!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Is there an opportunity that you have been working on does not seem to be working out? Keep the following in mind:

When the idea is not right -- God says, No!

When the time is not right -- God says, Slow!

When you are not right -- God says, Grow!

The self-centered person has to grow in unselfishness before God says, GO!

The cautious person must grow in courage before God will say, GO!

The reckless person must grow in carefulness before God will say, GO!

The timid person must grow in confidence before God will say, GO!

The self-belittling person must grow in self-love before God will say, GO!

The dominating person must grow in sensitivity before God will say, GO!

The critical person must grow in tolerance before God will say, GO!

The negative person must grow in positive attitude before God will say, GO!

The power-hungry person must grow in kindness and gentleness before God will say, GO!

The pleasure-seeking person must grow in compassion for suffering people before God will say, GO!

When everything is right -- God says, GO!

The Origin of Praise

According to an Old Jewish legend, after God created the world He called His angels to the throne room and asked them what they thought of His handiwork. One of the angels responded, "Only one thing lacking — the sound of praise to the Creator." So God created music, and it was heard in the whisper of the wind, in the song of the birds and in the babbling of brooks. Finally, the ability to sing was given to man. It is in praise and worship that the creation comes fully to life and is complete.

We will never run out of things to praise God for if we keep our focus on His glory and remain in His presence. The more we praise God, the more we see clearly who He is, who we are before Him, and the relationship He desires to have with us. The more we praise God, the more meaning and fulfillment come into our lives.

Praise allows us to endure hardship until the moment of God’s victory arrives.

Praise enables us to activate our faith to believe for God’s definitive deliverance.

Praise makes us complete and whole and brings healing.

Praise gives us voice for our emotions when blessings, reconciliation and harmony overtake sorrow, struggle and strife.

Praise often is the way God designs for us to emerge from darkness and to stand boldly in the light of His love.

The Christmas Story: Jesus’ Birth in Bethlehem

Luke 2:1-20

Now it came about in those days that a decree went our from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all were proceeding to register for the census, everyone to his own city.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register, along with Mary, who was engaged to him and was with child. And it came about that while they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.

And she gave birth to her first-born son and she wrapped in cloths, and laid Him in a manger because there was no room for them at the inn.

And in the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.

And the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased."

And it came about when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds began saying to one another, "Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us." And they came in haste and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger.

And when they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.

Bake a Cake!

A little boy is telling his Grandma how "everything" is going wrong.
School, family problems, severe health problems, etc.. Meanwhile, Grandma is baking a cake. She asks her grandson if he would like a snack, which, of course, he does.

"Here, have some cooking oil."
"Yuck" says the boy.
"How about a couple raw eggs?"
"Gross, Grandma!"
"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"
"Grandma, those are all yucky!"
To which Grandma replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! God works the same way.”

Many times we wonder why he would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!

"I was sitting at my church in the balcony, looking at the congregation, and wishing I had a simple song of thanks that people can sing.  Praise and worship songs can get very complicated. The congregation really wants to worship, but sometimes as leaders we make it difficult musically and lyrically for them to do that."
